The Midcoast Maine Book Arts (MCBA) collective brings together people who are passionate about exploring the art and craft of the book as a creative medium. Based along Maine’s beautiful midcoast, we’re a supportive and welcoming community of artists who share ideas, techniques, and inspiration. Our members are united by a love of paper, print, and structure, and by the endless possibilities that emerge when word, image, and form meet.

Our mission is to promote, encourage, and educate both working and aspiring book artists. We do this by hosting occasional hands-on workshops, holding bimonthly meetings, and creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. MMBA supports a range of exhibition opportunities—both curated and non-curated—welcoming members to share their work in settings that encourage experimentation, growth, and connection with wider audiences. We are dedicated to deepening appreciation for artists’ books and helping more people discover the beauty and expressive power of this unique art form.

Membership is open to book artists who share a serious interest in the art form—whether emerging or established in their practice. MMBA is a community for connecting, learning, and growing together, grounded in curiosity, craftsmanship, and creative exploration.
